The Intimate Couple E-Zine, April 2010, Issue 2 April 23, 2010 |
| Hi! Wedding Bells are Ringing!
This young couple was prepared for marriage in ways we ourselves were not when we married 27 years ago. Our son and his wife learned to communicate about everything by being open, honest, and receptive. They both have also had a huge advantage over many new couples by having parents with a great marriage who openly talked about marriage with its issues and challenges. Our son and daughter-in-law went on their honeymoon and left a card behind for us to open after they were gone. The card was a personal "thank you" for the marriage modeling our son had seen growing up in our family. We are grateful that the energy, time, and effort we've invested in making our marriage better has not been just for our benefit; it's also been for our children, and all our readers at The Intimate Couple.

Read Marriage Books! (In Other Words, “Are You Sharpening the Saw?”) Stephen Covey, award winning author of The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People uses the following illustration in his ground-breaking book. Suppose you were to come upon someone in the woods working feverishly to saw down a tree. In marriage, renewal and improvement in our relationship, is sharpening the saw! Thanks for reading and we hope to be in touch again in a few weeks! Sincerely, Jim and Carrie |
