24 Hour R & R
The busier your lifestyle is, the greater the need to get away and break from the stress, routine, and fast-pace … and have your own mini-marriage retreat. For Carrie and I, a 24 hour stay in Niagara Falls—the Honeymoon Capital of the World—was just what we needed! Our stay was,
- Alone (no kids!)
- Romantic (no schedule, alone, no kids!)
- An opportunity to invest some time in the lives of couples by working on our Intimate Couple website. (PS. This is not work for us!)
- Economic. Carrie and I found a great deal on TravelZoo. Anyone can sign up for free to get Travelzoo Top 20 emails (referring to 20 best travel deals in your area). This past week, we enjoyed a one night stay in Niagara Falls for only $50, with a complimentary $40 voucher to local restaurants! You can’t beat that deal!
Marriage on Hold?
We’ve all seen the sad statistics. More than half of those heading to divorce court site money problems as the major contributing factor to their marital breakdown. Tragic!
Recently we had the honour of offering some advice to a wonderful, young married couple. Their relationship had made great strides in the previous few years, but now it seemed to be “on hold” somewhat: the issue was money. They simply couldn’t agree and work together in the area of finance. Misunderstandings, hurt feelings, and disappointments abounded. The solution? Financial Peace University (FPU) with Dave Ramsey!
FPU is a 13 week video-based course designed to lay out the “baby steps” of financial success! This course teaches couples how they can work together in making and sticking to a budget (among other things!) We must not underestimate the importance of having our finances on track when we consider the ingredients of a happy marriage—and practical help is available!
