• For women ages 18-50, vaginal dryness during sex can be caused by not enough foreplay, illness affecting hormones, stress, changes in hormone levels while breastfeeding, medication, and scented or harsh soap or feminine hygiene products.
• After age 50, vaginal dryness can also be caused by menopause because of the decreased level of the estrogen hormone.
