New Year, New Life

Benjamin told me that for New Year's Eve we were going to go out for a nice dinner, the complete opposite of what I had in mind. I was feeling tired and cranky, but I was touched that he was trying to do something nice for me so I agreed.

It was raining that night and on our way to dinner which was about an hour away, we stopped by the train station. Benjamin loves trains, so when he asked me to get out of the car I agreed with some hesitation. While standing on the platform Benjamin handed me a large box and told me it was a belated Christmas present. In the box was a silver necklace, I said thank you and Ben looked at me and stated "read the back"! I flipped it over and on the back it said "Marry Me". I was speechless and when I looked down he was on one knee. I agreed and he told me that he had a ring in mind but that he wasn't able to afford it yet, but that he wanted me to know how he felt.

After that we went to dinner. At the end of our meal it was almost midnight, but Benjamin wasn't done yet, he had one last surprise. As I stated my anticipation of seeing the ring that he had picked out for me when he was finally able to afford it, he pulled a box out of his pocket and inside was my beautiful ring. I burst into tears and again agreed to be his wife, as the countdown for 2010 was heard in the background.
