We are not able to have romance

by Jenipha Elizabeth
(vellore)

Question: Let me know how to show love towards my husband.

Our Answer: Romance is something everyone can have--but it doesn't necessarily come naturally--we have to learn to be romantic! Being romantic is simply trying to please your spouse, cherish them, and show them how much you love them! For an in-depth treatment of romance, refer to the following link: Pure Romance.

Also, remember: The more you practice romance...the more romance there will be!

To show love to your husband requires knowing what his needs are--and then filling them! Love is thinking more about your spouse than you do about yourself, and acting accordingly. Essentially, there are three main ideas related to loving your spouse:

  1. Understand your love. You must recognize that love is a decision, and not a feeling. Our marriage vows show our commitment to unconditional love (or giving); this is the love that gives without getting!

  2. Verbalize your love. For example:
    • “I love you because I’m yours and you make me feel special.”

    • “You are so thoughtful and caring that I can’t help but love you.”

    • “When I saw how handsome you looked tonight, my love for you just filled my heart.”

    • “I was at my desk today, and thoughts of you made me realize how much I love you.”

  3. Demonstrate your love. “Love not acted on fades into familiarity.” – Henry James Borys

Use actions to reaffirm your love to your husband. Write a loveletter. Help with some of his chores. Do something for your spouse that you know will be meaningful for him. Give an unexpected hug! Say “thank you”. Initiate sex with him!
The more you practice romance...the more romance there will be!
